Bad day at the Office

A 2-0 defeat against Chelmer in our first game of the season was not what we expected. After a elongated pre-season, all the efforts to keep everyone safe and sane and critical additions to the squad. we just "Did not turn up" in the way that I know we can, could and should. An expectant crowd gathered at the hallowed CM6 arena, including the first winning manager of the FA Vase to watch what was a damp squib show, only punctuated by Splinters hitting the bar from 30 yards with a curling effort and Lucy leaping about between the sticks. We cannot expect to win every game, or each player play well every time, but we cannot afford to collectively not work hard, work together, work intelligently. With games coming thick and fast from now on in and a Cup Final due very soon, everyone needs to dust themselves down and make the necessary changes that the Gaffer pointed out in his pre-match teamtalk to produce the end-of-the-rainbow pot of gold we all want. There was much debate in the clubhouse after, between teammates, with Tommy Barnett offering advice and experience that he learned from a local and national managerial legend Arthur Rowe. Post match meal was homemade organic Chicken Tikka Kebabs, Naan Breads, Salad and Bombay Aloo
