...All the time we were apart, I thought of you. It was nearly 30 years between the release of the song that everyone secretly knows the words to, and the reunion of Kylie and Jason on the Hyde Park stage to reprise their seminal hit.

At times it has felt like the antipodean smash hit at White Roding... with so few games played for the 45s in the past 3 months due to weather and almost 30 days before our next league fixture is scheduled. There has been No dreaming about tomorrow... the lads had to Forget about the loneliness and the sorrow. In the intervening days and weeks of our enforced winter break, bodily repairs have been made, training taken, yoga enjoyed, squad mates socialised and patient partners appeased. Unfortunately there has been no reenactment of the fondly remembered Molty/Gold Lame Hotpant incident. 2 victories and an unlucky lucky, lucky draw in the 3 league contests since mid-November, has been supplemented by cup games that has lead us to our first Cup Final. Keeping team spirit and player fitness in peak condition in such a desert of duels has not been helped by the bureaucracy of the footballing authorities in approving new 3G pitches for competitive fixtures. All we needed was a pitch fit to play, I would have flown to you, To be where you are, No matter how far. Working on tactics have so far been restricted to pen and paper, not ideal when the game should be played on grass (both actual and artificial) and it makes it challenging for those individuals desperate for game time.
The weekend of 29th February we travel to Stansted with the changing room certain to be filled with sweet, dulcet words singing in unison And now we're back together, I want to show you my heart is oh so true, and all the love I have is... Especially for you! as those that take the field stake their claim for a spot in the showdown with Springfield on March 18th. In the meantime there is much left to occupy our Saturday afternoons.
